Have to say its been a great month, where all the hard work has paid off!! After taking first place as a Gut Check Fitness team at the Super Gladiator in Barona last month, we got right back to training hard. Then, two weeks ago, we competed in the Spartan Beast as a team. This was our third Spartan race of the year. It was a clean sweep, as we took first place in the Temecula Super, Vegas Super, and finally this Temecula Beast. We braved the 105+ heat and took home first place for the 13+ mile course, placing as individuals in the top 30 overall for our entire team. Next, the following weekend my teammate, Kevin Zempko and I ran the inaugural Carmel Valley 10K put on by Jeff Stoner. What a great event! Kevin and I both placed on the podium, with second and third in age group, and 5th and 6th overall. Following that, this last weekend Gut Check San Diego took 75+ people to the MCRD Bootcamp Challenge. Everyone of our teams took first place in the various team categories. My team, Kevin Zempko, Martin Kamme, and I, took first place in the 3-person male team with the best team time on the day. Incredible journey for me at this race, as it was the 7th time in a row of winning. My favorite shorter obstacle race by far! Last, we will tackle the Del Mar Mud Run this coming Saturday with our team. We have won 4 years in a row, and are looking to make it a fifth! I am so excited to have my Jen running her very first mud run ever. I just hope I can beat her, as we are in the same heat. There is plenty more on the radar for me personally, but also for our team. A big thanks to Joe Decker and Nicole Decker for paving this road for me. Your encouragement and dedication to me and the rest of Gut Check is unparalleled. Huge thank you to my other teammate, Johnnie Padilla, who is injured currently and making a speedy recovery, for pushing me always in our training and Kevin Zempko for the same reason. Also, a special thanks to Jen for allowing me to do these races, and for Mia always giving me good luck. Lets do this!!
