Have to tell this story. we were flying from HNL- LAX on a DC 10 when we ran into severe turbulence. My position at that time was called In Flight Service Director. I took the service elevator to the down stairs galley to have a smoke. Well as I said when I was in the galley, all hell broke loose and the flight attendant (stewardess) dropped a a whole tray of meals. She quickly went to her knees to gather the fallen meals and began to arrange the meals on each casserole. I asked what are you doing? She replied, do you want to go up stairs and tell those passengers, we dont have any meals for them? I thought hell no, I dont want to do that. So there we were the two of us on our knees, arranging the peas, carrots, and entree ever so neatly. We laughed many times about that incident. Sometimes, you have to make adjustments.
