Have you always wanted to see Maestro Riccardo Muti conduct at the Salzburger Festspiele | Salzburg Festival in Austria? Hes there again this summer, leading the Vienna Philharmonic / Wiener Philharmoniker (VPO) in Schubert and Bruckner on August 15, 16, and 17. The performances commemorate the 25th anniversary of the death of the great conductor Herbert von Karajan, who invited Maestro Muti (Riccardo Muti Official) to conduct the VPO in Salzburg in 1971, thus beginning the long and close relationship of Maestro Muti and the orchestra, of which Maestro is an honorary member. When he conducted the Philharmonic’s 150th anniversary concert in 1992, Maestro Muti was presented with the Golden Ring, a special sign of esteem and affection, and in 2001, his outstanding artistic contributions to the orchestra were further recognized with the Otto Nicolai Gold Medal.
