Have you been in a training slump, hit a plateau, can’t be - TopicsExpress

Have you been in a training slump, hit a plateau, can’t be bothered to train? For many people this is a reality and it can be for a whole range of reasons! So what might those reasons be? Boredom (routine, gym), training variables are all the same, an injury or niggle may be holding you back, doing too much in one training session, always using the same equipment and doing the same thing, youre too tired from work/family commitments, you just do the things in the gym you like and you don’t get advice from a professional. The key is to recognise that there is a problem/problems, but it is absolutely possible to bust through the slump and come back fighting – bigger, better, stronger than ever. So to fight through that plateau, have a go at some of this lot. Get a training partner Get a personal trainer (either in the gym or online) Ask someone else to write you a program (one of the above?) Set a goal for yourself – e.g. gain 2lbs of muscle over next two months – get checked by PT or gym pro Set days/times for training so it doesn’t interfere with family time Go to bed half hour earlier and try to increase amount of sleep There are many things you can do to help yourself get the gains you want and deserve. I mixed things up today and did some leg and shoulder work: Warm-up: Leg extensions 4 sets, 15 reps, moderate weight Kettlebell 1 leg hamstring deadlifts, 4 sets, 15 reps, 24kg KB Leg Press Challenge - 100 reps in as few sets as possible - 150kg, rest of 20 secs between each stop - I did 5 sets today Log clean and press - up to 70g at 4 reps - video shows 50kg at 6 reps Log challenge to finish - as many reps as possible in one minute - have a go - I managed 21.....they were TOUGH!
