Have you been looking for a device that can function as a tablet, - TopicsExpress

Have you been looking for a device that can function as a tablet, laptop, and desktop replacement? Microsoft may have the answer with its new Surface with upgraded components and 75% better battery life. It’s packed with enough power to handle hours of gaming, which means it’s more than capable to access the WorldwideIT Cloud Service and help your run your business more efficiently in the office and on the road. Microsoft just recently announced its release of the second generation of Surface devices, the Surface Pro 2 and Surface 2. The two devices will launch on October 22nd along with new versions of the existing two keyboards, a docking station, and a new cover called the Surface Remix, which is for DJing and music production. The Surface Pro 2 is the second generation of the Surface Pro which was one of the first devices to have the portability of a tablet and the capability of a laptop, it starts at $899. The programs ran on a Surface Pro are not apps, but instead they are actual programs that are downloaded on the device that don’t need an internet connection to run. This means that we can now have programs like Photoshop and QuickBooks on the go and not have to settle for a lesser version of these programs in app form. The processor improvements include a jump to an Intel Core i5-4200 Haswell with 1.6GHz CPU and more options as far as storage. You can get the device in a 64GB or a 128GB storage that comes with 4GB of RAM or you could go a little higher with 256GB or 512GB that have 8GB of RAM. The new kickstand is said to support two different positions and be more user friendly than the original one. Panos Panay, the executive that ran the Microsoft Surface launch claims that the keyboard has “lapibility”. Reviewers seem to disagree with that statement, the kickstand still does not fully support use on anything that isn’t a hard, flat “surface”. The docking station should improve the issues of battery life and also charges the device when attached. A lot of people have been waiting for something that converts easily from a tablet to a laptop to a PC easily and the dock seems to offer that, or at least start to. The touch and type covers have more sensitivity and upgrades with the backlight. It goes out where you haven’t typed or touched in a while to conserve energy and call less attention in a dark room. The Surface Remix is pressure sensitive so the harder you press the buttons and controls, the louder or more effective your gestures will be. Microsoft had to write off $900 million in unsold Surface products before this launch. Hopefully the complaints and major issues with the first generation acted as a decent outline for what this new product will be able to deliver, the improvements definitely sound attractive. arstechnica/gadgets/2013/09/microsofts-hardware-round-2-surface-2-and-surface-pro-2/
