Have you been paying attention to the media? Have you heard about the campaign of Kate Kelly and her mission to change the foundational doctrine of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (aka The Mormons)? Have you heard that she is being silenced, oppressed or ousted? Have you wondered why she has been excommunicated from The Church? Have you wondered if what she says is true or false? Well...shes leaving a few (key) parts out of the story. One example (from the Prophet himself): In God’s plan for the happiness and eternal progression of his children, the blessings of his priesthood are equally available to men and women. Only men are ordained to serve in priesthood offices. All service in the church has equal merit in the eyes of God. We express profound gratitude for the millions of Latter-day Saint women and men who willingly and effectively serve God and his children. Because of their faith and service, they have discovered that the church is a place of spiritual nourishment and growth. We understand from time to time church members will have questions about church doctrine, history or practice. Members are always free to ask such questions and earnestly seek greater understanding. We feel special concern, however, for members who distance themselves from church doctrine or practice and, by advocacy, encourage others to follow them. Does that sound like oppression to you? If you have wondered about ANYthing to do with Kate Kelly and/or the Mormon church, please....ask me! I wont be offended or insulted. I wont think your questions are stupid. Most of my friends do not espouse to The LDS church. Some of you may have questions. If you do, please ask. The media is only about 20% accurate and is not a reliable source. (Shocking, right? Haha). Here is the official response from the leaders of The Church. Id say theyre handling it with dignity, integrity and grace.
