Have you ever had a person stand in front of you, and literally spit on your face, and you have to remain calm because it could get worse? I have. I watched this, and I sat still, motionless for about 60 seconds... which seemed like forever. This really happens, and for anyone to say you deserve it because you stayed... you are an ignorant a$$! I consider myself to be a very intelligent and very strong independent person..... now. Yet in the middle of the hopelessness you really cant just leave. Its not that easy. You are stripped down to just a shell of a person from years of verbal abuse alone. You are only allowed to have people in your life that treat him as the victim... and to this day... 6 years after leaving in a van with my 3 kids with only the clothes we had on our backs.... there are people that STILL think my ex is the victim... and they still have no idea what went on in my home. This post is NOT about ME, and is meant to raise awareness of the DV programs that HELP victims to become survivors!!! Supporting a Domestic Violence program saves lives, and not just the victims... but their childrens lives too.
