Have you ever had to make the choice of: Im glad I did it or I wish I had? OK so have I. Im glad I didnt jump off the Grand Canyon with a parachute!! But!! After my first visit to Alaska with my wheels on the pavement and my Wife and Mother in law in the car and our hats hung on the hat rack in a motel, I decided I wanted to see the OTHER part of Alaska. So I planned this trip for me and my wife Karen to see the other part. The unpaved part. The back woods little Bergs etc. etc. She finally said, sorry! Not for her. She liked our nice warm bathroom in the middle of the night. Not the substitute! My Brother Bud had just retired so I gave him a call. He said he had already been up north. I said, no you have not. We passed his most northern trip the first day. When we got to Watson Lake BC, we left the pavement behind and the fun started. I did my homework fine. The timing, the preparation, the equipment etc. etc. worked fine. We didnt see pavement for several days but we did see great, great country. We stayed in Canada way up to the Arctic Circle and beyond before going into Alaska and seeing the pipe line etc. Watch and enjoy. I was age 61 and my Brother was age 65. We never were challenged. My only advice is self education and be prepared! We carried a shotgun. Why? Bud said, If they cant see you, they cant eat you. Nuff said. We never fired a shot!!!
