Have you ever heard any news about members of any political party resigning from their party other than AAP? I have never heard about mass resignations from BJP, Congress, Shiv Sena, BSP, SP. But we keep hearing about members resigning from AAP very frequently. So are we actually saying that people from other parties never quit or it is simply not newsworthy. You decide whether media has been fair on this one. Now I come to the people who make a spectacle out of their resignation from AAP. There are mainly two kinds of people who resign from AAP. The over ambitious and the over idealistic. The former wants quick results in terms of personal growth in the party. When they see it is not happening, they quit. The second variety is still living in the hangover of activism. I have nothing to say to the over ambitious ones. The sooner they leave the party the better. The over idealistic variety needs to understand the difference between activism and politics. If you want to do more than what you can do through activism, you need power. If you want power, you need strategy. And strategy is never made by being emotional. Emotions dont win you elections. The resignation of Arvind Kejriwal is a prime example of what happens when you act out of emotion in politics. So my friends, go back to activism if you feel politics is not your cup of tea. We need good activists in society. Just refrain from tarnishing the party just because you cant fit in. The people who are striving to do more are not less idealistic than you. Just that they are not as emotional as you are. Respect the difference of opinion and walk out gracefully.
