Have you ever heard this sentence come out of your trainers mouth “I can fix that in 5 minutes!” ? Those words linked together make me shutter....why do dog trainers pander to the will of society for a quick fix? Especially when the reality is the only thing you might be fixing in those five minutes is the symptom of the real issue not the issue itself. Don’t get me wrong, you’re finding it hard to help your dog understand what you want...sure a slight adjustment to your approach and things become crystal clear and you are in awe at the quick fix that trainer just gave you.....so yes I guess there are something’s that can be fixed in 5 minutes. But most things are harder than that; just like in everyday real life nothing can be solved as easily as we want it to be. It takes more than 5 minutes for the problem to start, so believe me it’ll take more than 5 minutes to fix it. So go in with eyes wide open, be dedicated and diligent because the only way anything is going to change is if you’re willing to take the first, last and every step in-between...be the change that you want to see, find the trust, find the inspiration, and find the joy that evolves with every success, a road that is long and winding is often one filled with the best memories!!
