Have you ever noticed how suffering, hardship, and loss can make - TopicsExpress

Have you ever noticed how suffering, hardship, and loss can make you truly appreciative and be very grateful when you focus on what you already have instead of what you are missing. After suffering a horrible car wreck, with my two little ones in the car, while very pregnant with Wyatt, I began to truly appreciate the safety features of both our car-seats and my Volvo. I had never really given much thought to car seats, air bags, and reinforced doors until they saved the life of myself, my sons, and my unborn child. After losing most of our worldly possessions and our home in a house-fire, I became to place a more important value on my time with my family instead of my time at work building a materialistic life for my family. I began to appreciate the simple life of staying at home raising my babies instead of working 12 hour days 6 days a week. Our finances took a huge hit, but we are much happier having gratitude for each other instead of things. While building this house from the ground up I began to appreciate the little things. Go without a bathroom door, kitchen cabinets, flooring, or central heating and air for a while, and I guarantee you will be very grateful for them when you do have them. Even though I have suffered through sickness before, I was so young that I didnt really learn what I am learning now. I have taken my health, strength, and energy level for granted. Right now it takes every ounce of energy I have to get out of bed and get dressed to go somewhere. I have to take constant breaks to lie down and regain my strength between school with the kids and work. I have even had to sit down during classes while teaching. I know that this is temporary and will pass once I am used to living with no sugar and caffeine and raise my PH. While this is a difficult time for me, I feel blessed to be learning to be grateful and appreciative for good health, because just like most everything else on this Earth, there are no guarantees.
