Have you ever seen a flying bull? Folks on the UNO campus will see just that Monday, Aug. 4, when the Maverick Monument arrives and is installed — lowered by a 90-ton crane to its place amid a new plaza outside the HPER building and Sapp Fieldhouse. Here’s a video showing recent work on the 1,500-pound, 8-foot tall bronze bull statue at the Adonis Bronze foundry in Alpine, Utah. UNO Alumni Association President Lee Denker is headed there today to oversee the statue’s finishing stage. Artist Jocelyn Russell is personally delivering the statue, driving it nearly 1,000 miles to its home on the UNO campus! Maverick Monument will be formally “unleashed” at a dedication Aug. 24 at 3 p.m.. All alumni are invited to attend the ceremony, which will be followed by a free BBQ for all guests. See more about the monument at unoalumni.org/mavmonument. #mavmonument
