Have you ever taken a look inside a cow transport truck? This is what it looks like. This is what the cows look like moments before they die. I had the great pleasure of meeting Caroline Wong yesterday at Happily Ever Esther Farm Sanctuary. She had only been released from prison that morning. She and some others were taking part in this non-violent direct action at a Toronto slaughterhouse, and they blocked this truck by sitting directly in its path for 2 hours. Eventually, the slaughterhouse workers directed the truck driver to just pull in, if they had to run over the activists, so be it. They tried to forcefully move them, and thats when the police got involved. Caroline and others were assaulted, one man was dragged by his arms by two police officers and then thrown to the pavement, his head bouncing off of it, causing a concussion, Caroline was also dragged on the ground, sustaining bruises and scratches to her face. Several people were arrested, but only Caroline and Susan Banks were kept in a cell overnight. Many of their basic human rights were violated. Days before this happened, there was a birthday party held for Caroline. In lieu of gifts, she collected donations which were then sent to us here at Ruby Ranch. I am so grateful for these brave, generous, gentle people, who not only talk the talk, but they also walk the walk.
