Have you ever thought about adopting a senior dog? Our seniors - TopicsExpress

Have you ever thought about adopting a senior dog? Our seniors often get overlooked. Why though? Is it because you wont get as much time with them? If that is the case, you do not know how good it feels to give a senior dog the best last few years of its life. Is it because you cant teach an old dog new tricks? Dont worry - that is a lie. Here is a story and a video of Jameson. A senior who was adopted by one of our fosters.. Jameson is a 9 year old Weimaraner who was badly in need of a foster. On the same day that he lost his foster home, he lost his best doggie friend, who was also a Weimaraner, just much younger. He was taken to Camp Bow Wow until a new foster was found for him. Later that evening, I got a call from another LDDR member saying that Jameson was so upset at Camp Bow Wow, he was shaking, crying and cowering in a corner. He would be my first foster dog for Last Day Dog Rescue. I knew the minute he got into my car that he would also be my first “foster failure.” I adopted him exactly a week later. At 9 years young, this guy has more energy than most puppies. He runs and plays with my other dogs. He could play fetch all day long. When I got him, he knew so many commands. Sit, down, shake and of course “no”. He has the best manners and walks perfectly on a leash. I could not IMAGINE being without him. Even though I know that I won’t have as much time with him as I would have with a younger dog, because of his perfect manners and playful loving nature, It will be so easy to make the most of all the time we will have together! He is right where he belongs! See our seniors in need of a home here:: lastdaydogrescue.org/animals/browse?special=Seniors+for+Seniors
