Have you ever wanted something to happen so bad and the waiting just killed you? I’m going through that now. But every time I get into this….why hasn’t it happened yet, I remember, God’s timing is perfect and if it’s His will, it will be done. Patience is tough. Kind of like the anticipation of a road trip. When you take off it appears it takes way more time to get down there than it does to get home. I feel that way anyway. If we truly set ourselves to wait on God, we will find that it is with Him we are impatient. He does, not all at once-or as soon as we wish, do our bidding. It is in waiting on God that our eyes are opened to believe in His wise and sovereign will, and to see that the sooner and more completely we yield absolutely to it, the more surely His blessing can come to us. As a kid, I used to be so impatient with jawbreakers that I would find a hammer and break the candy and eat the pieces. I cannot believe I still have intact teeth. Or do you remember those Cry Baby Sour Candies. If you put them in your mouth and the sour taste was so strong, I remember thinking it tasted like vomit, but if you held out just long enough to get through the sour, the candy itself was sweet. It’s kind of like waiting on God. While the wait is agonizing, the end result will be awesome! The waiting is to teach us that we must strive for absolute dependence on God’s mighty work, and to make us find ourselves at His disposal. If you’re waiting for some special request, wait patiently. And so will I. Whether it be in a shorter period of waiting, or it continues for years, rest assured that the Lord is waiting for the perfect time. Jeremiah 29:11 says, “’For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’” Prayer for today: Lord, thank you for helping me wait. I know that most times I’m so impatient but today, I’m trusting you. I love you and I know that you got this. Amen.
