Have you got a passion for coaching football but not sure how to go about it? Did you want to get involved in the football club but not sure what roles are open to you? Please read below to discover how two people have recently undertaken Level 1 FA coaching badges to learn more about coaching and Coopers Edge FC: Gareth Paine’s Testimony: I wanted to become a coach because I feel players benefit from having a structured environment that allows a greater understanding to have the best possible training and tactics and ultimately results. The FA Level 1 coaching course provided all this. The course was easy to understand and didn’t take long to complete. Coopers Edge FC paid for my education and I feel I have got a greater understanding about the game because of it that I will pass onto the players. I would recommend people join Coopers Edge FC as it is a great club with a great attitude towards the community and the players. Lawrence Martin’s Testimony: I have always wanted to be a coach and was looking for an opportunity to develop a team to compete in an attractive style of play. Coopers Edge FC provided the opportunity for me to achieve this by allowing me to study for my FA Level 1 coaching badges. The course was fun and easy to understand and didn’t involve too much paperwork. I felt it was a really good experience. I believe that by Coopers Edge FC providing qualified coaching allows the club to be provide drills and training for all teams you don’t normally get at other clubs. The players benefit from receiving structured and organised coaching sessions by being able to improve their performance in a friendly and positive environment. By taking the Level 1 my confidence of presenting in front of a large group has improved, which is something I have been able to apply to aspects of my life outside of football. I would recommend becoming a coach at Coopers Edge FC as they support you throughout your progress. People should join Coopers Edge FC as they are a friendly, reliable, competitive, organised and trustworthy club with the right emphasis on player development ensuring every player is involved at training and in matches. Matt Sargeant, Chairman of Coopers Edge FC, says: Coopers Edge FC has an ethos for player development in a social, supportive and empowered environment. So if you want to get fit, improve your skills or just meet neighbours and make new friends we have teams for you. In our first year we have achieved an FA charter standard club status and we will have teams to cater for men, ladies and children. We are not an elitist club and believe every player should be entitled to play games and enjoy their football. Our coaches have been key in the creation of this philosophy and new teams, providing a high quality of training that reflects the players needs. We also pride ourselves on our links to the Coopers Edge community; so it’s great to see the investment in coaching qualifications has allowed some residents to apply newly honed skills to other aspects of their lives and careers. This club needs volunteers like Gareth and Lawrence to grow and give the opportunity for residents to grow. This past year we have supported 5 coaches through the Level 1 FA Badge course and look to support more coaches this coming year. The club will pay for the course, all you need to do is provide your time and commitment to the course and teams.
