Have you read the news? ISIS terrorists are perched on our nations borders, across from El Paso, threatening attacks. These creatures, directed by demons from the abyss, are in our land. I remember the terror after 911 when planes could not fly, but flags flew everywhere, and my friends and I made pacts to care for each others children if something happened. To my young friends with children and to my older friends with grown children and grandchildren, it is common and even right to feel terror at the thought of our loved ones being harmed. We have no hope in our leaders. We have no promise of their defense. So, what do we do? Jonah is a book of the Bible that I believe, but many consider fairy tale. Here is a passage from this book: Jonah 3:4 After Jonah had entered the city and walked for one day, he preached to the people, saying, “After forty days, Nineveh will be destroyed!” 5 The people of Nineveh believed God. They announced that they would fast for a while, and they put on rough cloth to show their sadness. All the people in the city did this, from the most important to the least important...10 When God saw what the people did, that they stopped doing evil, he changed his mind and did not do what he had warned. He did not punish them. We are helpless without God. Another scripture promises: if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14 It is time to quit playing church. It is time to quit claiming a faith we do not live. It is time we: Turn. Repent. Stop doing evil. Call on God for His mercy, it is our only hope.
