Have you seen the new Health Canada guidelines for feeding baby? - TopicsExpress

Have you seen the new Health Canada guidelines for feeding baby? Easy, simple and the way I always recommend to customers (I am glad my theories have been backed with some research ;) ). Start with iron rich foods in a variety of textures, followed by all other food groups! At six months, babies can handle a variety of soft textures and soft finger foods so there is no need to offer only purees, which would be the case at four-months-old. Safe finger foods include: pieces of soft-cooked vegetables and fruits; soft, ripe fruit such as banana; finely minced, ground or mashed cooked meat, deboned fish, and poultry; grated cheese; and bread crusts or toasts. This is similar to a baby led weaning approach. They also suggest introducing baby using an open cup as opposed to a sippy cup - a wonderful piece of advice that we have practiced with all of our children (though we have also had sippy cups for trips out and about and various other situations where we dont want a large mess. At home open cups work great and can be introduced at 6 months).
