Have you seen your advisor yet? Freshmen register for Spring 2014 - TopicsExpress

Have you seen your advisor yet? Freshmen register for Spring 2014 classes on November 4 - less than two weeks away! You can see your advisor listed in the Rowan Success Network (rowan.edu/rsn), or if it is not there, ask at your Department office or call the University Advising Center (856-256-4459). Here are some tips for registering for courses: 1. Check your Self-Service Banner account NOW to see if you have any registration holds. In Self-Service, under Student, choose Student Records and then View Holds. You cannot register until those are removed, so take care of whatever is needed as soon as possible. 2. On the day of your registration (Monday, Nov. 4 for most freshmen), registration will open at 7 am or earlier. It is in your best interest to register as early as possible before the sections you want fill up. Have a list of CRNs (Course Reference Numbers; see below) and alternate choices ready to type in as soon as registration opens. 3. To find courses, I recommend Section Tally. Go to Section Tally here: banner.rowan.edu/reports/reports.pl?task=Section_Tally This is a great resource that shows up-to-the-minute seat availability in courses. Choose the term of Spring 2014. You can search for courses under Department if you are looking for a specific subject. Take a look at the whole list -- some subjects are grouped with others (for example, Sociology & Anthropology; Philosophy & Religion). You can also search for courses under Attribute if you are looking for kind of course, such as to meet a general education requirement. Attribute is very helpful if you are looking for an ACE (Arts & Creative Experience), LIT (Literature), SBS (Social & Behavioral Science), HHL (History/Humanities/Language), or SM (Science & Math) course. All of the courses that appear under those searches will meet the specific requirements. The column on the left is the CRN (in blue) that you would type into Banner Self-Service to register for the course; additionally, if you click on that CRN, it will take you to another page whether you can click “View Catalog Entry” to read a course description. The class times listed are in 24 hour/military time, so 1345-1500 would be 1:45-3:00. Also, note at which campus the course is held -- Main (Glassboro), Camden, or another. Another option for Section Tally is to click the Display only sections with space available box. 4. Here is a link to the registration booklet which contains a lot of great info -- its worth the time to review this. rowan.edu/provost/registrar/RIG/Spring%202014%20RIG.pdf 5. Heres the link to Banner Self-Service, where you will log in to register. rowan.edu/provost/registrar/links.html. It contains a link to this site rowan.edu/provost/registrar/forms/Self%20Service%20Registration%20Instructions.pdf with more instructions. 6. Another great resource: video tutorials of the registration process can be seen here: rowan.edu/provost/registrar/Student_Self_Service/Student_Self_Service.swf Its very exciting to register for the upcoming semester, and May the odds be ever in your favor!
