Have your say on a new Combined Authority for Nottingham and Nottinghamshire The creation of a new Combined Authority for Nottingham and Nottinghamshire has been recommended by the Leaders of the City Council, County Council and the seven local Borough and District councils, representing the biggest change to local government in a generation. The N2 Combined Authority would make long-term strategic decisions on major issues which are vital to the economic prosperity of the region including regeneration, economic development and transport, with additional powers devolved from central Government in return for the promise enhanced delivery and efficiency. Although a Combined Authority (or CA) would effectively be a new body, it would not replace the existing authorities and any costs would be met within existing budgets. CAs have already been established in Greater Manchester, the Liverpool and Sheffield City Regions, West Yorkshire and the North East. The proposal still has to be formally approved by each for the councils involved before being submitted to the Government for consideration in February. In the meantime, a public consultation is taking place to get the views of local people.
