Havent been a huge Wes Anderson fan until I stayed at the Grand Budapest. Quick, quirky, dark and deep, this is an amazing feast-for-all. Glorious turns from F. Murray Abraham and Ralph Fiennes, gorgeous art and sets, German and French sprinkled in, digging tools hidden in small confections (take that The Shawshank Redemption!) even a made up country high, high in the alps. The prison break attempt could have been its own short movie. I saw this as a microcosmic commentary on colonialism. That gave it quite a bit of depth to go along with quite a few laughs. (9 out of 10 stars)
