Having a convo with my boi Panama of VSB about his recent post about why gospel rappers dont succeed at the same level as secular rappers. The point was raised, as many argue, that if gospel rappers were better at the craft, they would draw the masses the way secular rappers do. My response is below. Have any thoughts on this matter? I definitely dont agree with that. Its like saying if healthy food was good, people in the hood would want it. While not accounting for how generations have had their taste buds directed towards the unhealthy through limited options. Mainstream hiphop is like that. Peoples musical palates have gotten used to something very particular and see anything outside of that as fake or weak or irrelevant.
