Having a good day - my first at my new Church placement in Inner City Bradford. After Morning Prayer - took Communion to a one legged 96 year old lady in nursing home & sang hymns with her - then attended West End - the Churchs daycentre , Luncheon Club & IT suite used by many homeless, refugee, unemployed & elderly clients. Had Cowboy pie (like Shepherds Pie but with added baked beans) & Cherry Sponge. Then met a young Iranian refugee who has just found accommodation after being here for 2 years seeking political asylum after his life was threatened as a college lecturer for speaking about democracy. He was also a former World No 1 Kung Fu fighter representing his country & earning 12/13 gold medals. Fascinating life histories - tonight is a prayer/Bible study entitled Spiritual Heart & then (YAWN Zzzzz) I need to wake up 5.30AM for 7am Clergy Prayer breakfast for City Clergy in high rise restaurant over looking the city to pray for Bradford.
