Having a grand time going through my new but old 1913 copy of Irish Minstrels and Musicians. I found an interesting paper in the book which is a flier from 1915 for an event at the Gaelic League. Also, Im very intrigued by two pictures of pipers with Taylor sets. We know their werent a huge number of Taylors made at least its been speculated that 30 or so exist in some form or another. The Edward Joyce set is strikingly similar to mine and it has a metal resonator which Ive only seen on one Taylor set and thats the one Im in possession of. The picture is more of a painting but the similarities are well documented in this fine adaptation of a photo and it may be some sort of photography, not sure. I know the AJ Mullins set is identical to mine but Im not sure if it has a metal bass drone resonator puck or not as the pictures I have only show parts of it. It was sold after His death to a Chicago resident named Billy McCormick which doesnt mean anything but their was connections to Chicago in one of the inscriptions on one of the pipes that were in the estate find of multi-millionaire Ebbi Buk of New York whom was the last owner before myself, although a copy of Baines book on bagpipes found with the lot is addressed to Ebbis brother Dov whom got it as a Christmas present from some lady. Dov owned a music shop in Brooklyn in the early 1900s so was probably more than likely the owner of the pipes. Also the pipes of Thomas F. Kerrigan caught my attention as he also had a Taylor set and the bass regulator looks very narrow and thin and appears to be metal Like mine but other things make it look possibly less so. The pictures angle is less than optimal for my intended purposes of identification. It also had a double bass reg which the Joyce set doesnt appear to have and my set had the hole for it but it wasnt included when I acquired the set. Still going through the book and I would advise anyone to get this book. Yes, the pictures in the original are much better than the reprints but the originals cost $400-$800 per copy.
