Having a moment of reflection...Its interesting. So many ask where my inspiration to sing came from. I am a true die hard believer in God for this gift of music which he bestowed upon my life from a child. It began there. There is, however, a love that I have for pure artistry that derived from my love for Lalah Hathaway. Im awe struck by her. I remember singing her tune Im Coming Back on the back of the school bus for buddies on the way to school or track meets. Never knew that it could be like this.....never knew that I would ever miss.... Loved and was inspired by Chaka, Gladys, Whitney, Mavis, etc....but Lalah Hathaways music ran through me like living water. I felt her! Whenever I reflect, I usually sit with a good Lalah tune. Wanted to share a gem of hers and Joe Sample that I have on repeat tonight. We are all inspired by different things. Let your inspiration be your motivation! And despite negativity, adversity, and tribulations, Shine on! And never let anyone or anything let your life feel low!! Rise!
