Having an emotionally trying day today. Lots of cat issues going on here and elsewhere. An old Siamese whose owner died earlier this year has been staying next door with my best friend C-bass because we cannot keep another old cat here. So he and I have been sharing her. Today I took her to the vet after she has been having some mobility problems, pain and urinary problems. Results are in on Gerta: elevated white cell count, elevated kidney enzymes... T4 (thyroid) is fine. Gonna have to do some antibiotics, pain meds and dietary changes. May end up having to treat with prednisone - we are proceeding like this is a systemic infection. Other option is that she might have cancer. Either way, we will proceed with treatment as stated above. Ugh, rough day all around. Send us some love - today really sucks.
