Having beat Alpha Sapphire Im now doing side content, specifically contests. At first I intended to ignore them but one thing caught my eye and made me wanna do them. Cosplay Pikachu. Due to some changes to Pikachus stats its actually become a decent Pokemon if you know how to use it. But unfortunately one thing always holds it back. Pikachu despite what you might think is primarily a physical attacker. Its only an 11 point difference between its attack and special attack but considering it gets moves like Volt Tackle, physical is just the all around better option. So whats this major flaw I mentioned? Well Pikachu aint shit when facing down a ground type so it needs some kinda ice attack to cope. And considering its only option in that regard is Hidden Power it unfortunately has to have some investment in special attack if not a complete investment in that. Then they gave Cosplay Pikachu Icicle Crash. It makes no sense but Ill take it! Unfortunately theres a drawback to this as well. You cant breed Cosplay Pikachu so it cant get Volt Tackle, I mean it still has Wild Charge but losing its signature move HURTS. Hopefully theyll be some event giving out a Cosplay Pikachu with Volt Tackle at some point but for now Ive gotta make due. So I did a contest just to get it and at some point I thought to myself Whats the difference between this and a competitive battle? Its not the same but these two things do kinda have a lot in common, plus with these games having Wi-fi where as they didnt back in the day, why couldnt this be competitive? After thinking that I legitimately had fun with my first gen 6 contest. Afterwords, first try I got a Cosplay Pikachu with a great nature and perfect IVs where they needed to be. So all in all this was a pleasant way to start on contests.
