Having been personally touched by suicide, I am particularly saddened whenever someone checks out early. Robin Williams should be alive today. The choice he made to end his life was a series of choices along a path of ending it. Any choice along that path could have been to live another day. At no time, however, did he depart from the path to his self-destruction. That sort of thing must be difficult for God to forgive; hence, I think, the Roman Catholic classification of suicide as a mortal sin. Williams own movie, What Dreams May Come, tells the story of the wife of his character going to Hell for it. I believe, however, that Gods mercy is everlasting, and that He may consider extenuating circumstances. I have reason to believe this in the case of my father, and Id like to believe it in Williams case as well. R.I.P.
