Having finished the Restored Names KJV (RNKJV), I’m back in the - TopicsExpress

Having finished the Restored Names KJV (RNKJV), I’m back in the regular KJV. I believe the KJV to be traced back to the most credible sources for translation. Even so, I will not say that other versions are wrong (though I am suspicious of some). The main message of man’s need for his Creator is evident, I believe in all versions, and that man can only find his true relationship with his Creator is through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, as well our Creator’s concern that we learn to live in His Holy Law of LOVE. The heading for this 40th Psalm ascribes it to David, the shepherd who became king of Israel. Psalm 40:4 Blessed is that man that maketh the LORD his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies. 5 Many, O LORD my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered. 6 Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; mine ears hast thou opened: burnt offering and sin offering hast thou not required. (KJV) It is always good to consider the blessings of our Heavenly Father, and remember His distaste for those who depend on their pride and boasting which is usually based on lies. Though sacrifices and offerings were written into the law given through Moses, it was understood by David that such earthly offerings were not what God (YHWH) truly desired. They were intended to show the seriousness of man living apart from his Creator and that sacrifice would be necessary for mankind to learn the holiness of God’s law of love. Mankind left to his own devices tend towards loving self and seeking one’s own greed and lust rather than having a natural love for others who are in need of love. The great example of Jesus sacrificing Himself for us should be a lesson that we are to sacrifice of ourselves for others. What else could we sacrifice, because all that there is He created. As He said in another Psalm- paraphrased- “If I (the Lord your God, YHWH) were hungry, I would not tell you because the cattle on a thousand hills are mine.” All there is He created; we could offer Him nothing, because even we are here by His handiwork. Let me rephrase that- we can offer Him our hearts, because He gave them to us with our own capacity to choose. So even in offering our hearts, we are only offering what He gave to begin with. So that is why I say that we could offer Him nothing, as anything we offer came from Him to begin with. Psalm 40:16 Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: let such as love thy salvation say continually, The LORD be magnified. 17 But I am poor and needy; yet the Lord thinketh upon me: thou art my help and my deliverer; make no tarrying, O my God. (KJV) David continues with praise because we are to seek Him and rejoice in His concern for us. As we see our salvation as being His merciful gift to us, then we should certainly seek to see Him be magnified. We should spread the Word of His mercy in salvation till His Word is magnified throughout the world. Did I say ‘spread the Word’? Remember, John 1 teaches that Jesus is the Word that was in the beginning with God, was God, and all things were made through Him, and that He became flesh and dwelt among us. David says that he is poor and needy. Sorry- I didn’t do any real research on this chapter or verse, but I’m not sure if this were written before he became king or after. As king, few would think of him as ‘poor and needy’. Still, it is likely that he often thought of himself as being so, when considering that he would be thinking of his spiritual position. This would be honest humility before a God who is so righteous, that any righteousness and man could muster would be puny. So no matter how wealthy or righteous any human may be, he is poor and needy when compared to God’s wealth and righteousness. Yet for us in our poor and needy estate, David goes on to say that the Lord thinketh upn ‘me’. Reminds me of another time when David (I believe Psalm 8) said, “When I consider the stars and the vastness of the universe, what is man that thou are mindful of Him?” Yet in our lowest estate, He is willing to lift us up, if we but turn to Him.
