Having grown up with games like this, all F-Zero titles, and - TopicsExpress

Having grown up with games like this, all F-Zero titles, and various other hyperspeed racers, I find myself lamenting the state of the racing game market. The vast majority of racing titles are more or less trying to recreate the real-life phenomenon of racing/real life racing events. Thats all well and good, and I tend to think that those kinds of games have always had a strong presence, but why do the more outrageous sci-fi racers have to be discarded? I can accept the argument that, to some degree, games like Extreme G (linked) were essentially the hardware wank of the days during the bit wars of the 90s (Hey Sony, check out what our 64-bit machine can do!! Lets see your 32-bit processor top THAT!). Sorry for the long lamentations, just some sad reminiscing I guess... I miss the days when games were a bit outrageous and exciting. BTW you dont need to watch the whole vid, just skip around to diff parts if you havent seen/played Extreme G before. https://youtube/watch?v=HMan5o1uKaI
