Having had the chance to calm down overnight, I felt compelled to - TopicsExpress

Having had the chance to calm down overnight, I felt compelled to put my feelings regarding the current situation at the club as I see it into print. I’ve supported Spurs for 52 years, attended many games, however, for a number of reasons have only held a season ticket since August. This, I believe makes me no less of a supporter than those that occupy Executive boxes, have held season tickets for many years, travel regularly to away games or have never been to a game. We are all the lifeblood of the club. Yesterday was a significant low point, probably the lowest I can remember (even relegation). I have always maintained an attitude that the “club” is bigger than anything. In recent years THFC has been well run as a business and has yet only achieved a modicum of success. We have seen world class players grace the shirt then go on to bigger, better things. In fairness we have underachieved for a number of years. A sleeping giant some might say. It’s not nice to see “protest” banners but even worse to see them forcibly snatched from those that choose to voice their concerns that way, to drown voices of protest & complaint by playing overly loud and out of context music at the end of the game (possibly contravening point 11 of the Ground Regulations) endorses the feelings of many supporters that this, “our” club, has sunk to previously unseen behaviour. In fact it seems it cares little about them. I do not subscribe to the “Levy/ENIC out!” movement, I believe that’s crass and disrespectful, however there comes a time in any company’s life when change has to come. Significant change generates success, this applies to well run companies. Football clubs are no different. To juggle profit with excellent customer service is not a dark art, it’s an absolute necessity. THFC are not delivering anything close to excellent customer service but you can’t simply put your fingers in your ears and shout “la, la, la”. There now seems to be a cancer running through the club that has spread through to supporters and players alike, White Hart Lane is not a particularly nice place to go and it shows, Mauricio Pochettino and Hugo Loris looked like broken men, gaps in previously packed terraces are starting to appear. The buck stops at the very top and responsibility has to be taken and accepted. Minor surgery is no longer an option. The Board has to change or go, before the culture of this wonderful club is destroyed beyond repair. Yesterday should have been about the feelings, warmth and the spirit of this club (as well as three points). Keith Burkinshaw, members of our heroic armed forces, Norman Roach. Instead I was left with a very sour taste in my mouth. This note has little to do with the woefully inept performance on the pitch. That’s a whole different subject. It is time that supporters felt valued again and that they feel that they are receiving “value” on and off the pitch. That is your responsibility. The club will then receive so much more in return. An open letter to Daniel Levy from a lifelong Spurs fan LOD
