Having lived through it there is one thing people do not understand about war. It has an inherent chaotic nature. You never know who, when or where.. the next round or explosion may be coming from. That is why a soldier depends on the man to his right and to his left to be there and not run from his innermost fears. All are afraid... to survive you have to accept the fear. Ask any combat veteran.. and then give them a big hug of thanks.
