Having my coffee at seven in the morning, staring at the computer through very bleary eyes. Getting psyched up to be in Fayetteville by 8:15 to set up for a day of selling (or at least displaying, with intent) artwork. Trying to remember the rules. One: talking to the people is good, but must remember how to stop to breathe from time to time. Talk about the art, not about the Byzantine Empire or the orchids that live buried in the snow in Iceland. Two: these are not children, they are constructions of wood and paint and varnish, dont get all teary-eyed when someone wants to take one of them to a new home. Selling them is a happy time. Three: no haggling, dammit; this is hard work, and Im already underpriced, mustnt let people railroad me. Four: be certain that shirt is buttoned correctly, shoes are tied, and pants are zipped up at all times. Five: dont overdo the coffee at seven in the morning.
