Having read Bob Finans post about Wayne Andersons long time crew chief Charlie Heinsi passing I offer my sympathy and especially prayers to Charlies family. Before Charlie was with Wayne he was a long time member of Mousey Kempsters team and back in the 50s he either owned or was part of the team on another car that was competing at Syracuse the day that Glenn (Wagner) Ford lost his life. I recall one night at Islip when something went on that caused a bit an argument in the Islip pits. The key here is that Charlie & Donnie Kempster looked alike at quick glance especially with their 3K shirts on and their voices were comparable. Well Donnie K certainly would provoke people when he got on a rant and he sure could persist & get loud. The hollering was in the vicinity of Bob ORourke and I guess the barbs got a bit personal & were directed toward Bob personally which Ticked ORourke off enough that he tossed Charlie out for 2weeks thinking it was Charlie rather than Donnie that was the instigator. Charlie took the 2 weeks off & Donnie was home free. There was a lot of ribbing that Charlie took for years after that incident.
