Having realized this reality, the Islamic leaders for their own interests defined intellectuals using two aspects so that the true definition became obscured. Whatever their intension may be, two points have been proven through history: Firstly, the majority of intellectuals in the past have risen among well-off families. Secondly, most intellectuals have come to serve the deprived social classes. From here, it can be generalized that throughout history intellectuals have been part of and belonged to the vast majority of the public. This rejects the concept of attaching intellectuals to a particular class. Intellectuals have always shown concern towards common causes. The higher degree of intellectuals is in its domain. These intellectuals will predominantly come from the working classes and villagers.
