Having recently transferred my copy of Rise Above onto 8 track (!?), I got to thinking about the similarities between Epic and Nick Drake. Both grew up in the roving hills of Warwickshire in the comfortable, middle-class villages of Harbury and Tanworth-In-Arden respectively and born to loving parents who gave the utmost support and encouragement to their sons. Both Epic and Nick chose the city of London to pursue their dreams. I find both Epics and Nicks music timeless and can feel that they were treading the same lonely, grey, rainy streets in their songs, albeit at different times. If I listen to Drakes Parasite or Epics Ruthless, the feeling of isolation prevails.
