Having taken a hiatus from Facebook a couple weeks, Ive had some time to think about what I really wanted to achieve in 2015. In place of the typical New Years resolution, Ive decided to follow the lead of my wife Stacey and my friend Ellie and set a theme for this year instead. My theme for this year is stewardship. Stewardship, as defined by the Merriam-Webster dictionary, is the activity or job of being responsible for something. In this case, Ive decided to focus on being a better steward of the things God has already provided for me. I intend to become a better husband to be a better steward of my marriage. I will work to become a better father to be a better steward of the precious little life that has been placed in my care. I aim to work harder, budget, eliminate student loans, and plan ahead to be a better steward of my finances. I will take greater care to train more and improve my nutrition to be a better steward of my body and my health. Of course, all of this means that Ill need to better manage my time so I have committed to this. I have decided ultimately to become a steward of the time Ive been given to live on this earth. As my pastor briefly mentioned last week, we often fail to realize how blessed we are because we simply mismanage that which we already have been given. I no longer want that to be the case and I want to honor God with everything Ive been given and in everything I do. Heres to an exciting 2015. So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. (1 Corinthians 10:31)
