Having the right person to teach you maths makes all the difference. I offer custom tutoring packages catering for a variety of options. My method is simple and effective, a thoroughly thought-out approach on how to achieve success in mathematics. CONTACT DETAILS: CELL: 073 410 7971 (call; sms; whatsapp) LESSON OPTIONS: One-on-one lessons: • At your house: R140 p/h. • At my house: R120 p/h Group lessons (3-5 Students): Offering regular (weekly) groups and/or EXTRA groups during assessment times, like before tests and exams. • At your house or mine: R80 p/h Available times: • Mon-Fri: 3pm-8pm • Saturday: 11am-8pm • Sunday: Negotiable How should I approach these lessons? What will suit my child best? The amount of time each student requires will depend on their level of achievement for maths, usually indicated by their previous report. Most students will require one or two weekly lessons (group or 1-on-1). Some advantages attached to a small of group of students learning together include, students benefiting from the questions asked by other students, and often the time passes more easily in a group (especially for extended lessons 2-3hours). Having a 1-on-1 lesson AND group lesson every week is a great way to learn. If you, as a parent, are worried about your child’s maths mark I would recommend any combination of 2 lessons per week (group and/or solo lessons). For students who have a high drive to improve their marks, or those in danger of failing the year, I would recommend any combination of 3 hours per week. Three hours a week is plenty in terms of teaching, but learning requires more than this. Learning is a daily process that starts by just doing your homework, and requires you to redo or pay special attention to some of the harder stuff. The most important part of a student’s study in maths is the ability to solve maths problems. The only way to do this is to consider many different problems. In other words, if you are not doing your homework for a subject like maths it will be very difficult to keep up with the problems when they start to become more difficult. It is ultimately the student’s effort in combination with the teachers that will determine success. EXTRA group lessons: During assessment time students often require extra attention to ensure they perform well during assessment. Often a student’s mark is a poor indication of his/her mathematical ability, because he/she made “silly” mistakes. This is an indication of lack of preparation for an assessment. I will thus be hosting EXTRA group lessons during assessment periods (tests/exams). These groups will be 2 hours long @ R160 (R80 p/h). I would recommend two such sessions before a test, because in 4 hours we can cover the study material for a test in its entirety.
