Lāna‘i, Hawai‘i, O‘ahu & Kaua‘i Water/Light: Dry, with full sun exposure Elevation range: 950 to 5,500 Height: Up to 39 feet, with an up to 20 foot spread Notes: A‘ia‘i wood is light brown, hard, and tough. When properly polished, it resembles Oak wood. While there are no documented ancient Hawaiian uses, in Eastern Australia a‘ia‘i wood is used to make boomerangs.
