Hay guys :) My wife and I are 60 years old. We were headed into old age with not a lot to look forward to. With the kids gone and the house getting paid off this February, we we were just happy to watch TV and grow old together (We been married 43 years. :) ) Then 3 years ago I bought a Honda 250 Rebel, for no other reason than I refused to pay 1/5 of my income for gas! I went from $40 a week to $6. (I know, but there is a reason why half of Wally World employees are on food stamps.) Riding every day, except for icy roads, 34 miles round trip from Murfreesboro to Nashville, I estimate I saved in the neighborhood of $6000 in three years. Last spring our car tore up and we started riding the bike everywhere. My wife fell in love with it! A couple of months ago she said we needed to get a bigger bike. I stated we needed to get a car first, and she said, Why?!? So we traded for a 2005 750 Honda Shadow Aero, and have no intention whatsoever of buying another car. We look forward to my days off when we can just get on the bike and ride. Today we left Murfreesboro at noon, and went to Texarkana to browse the bike shops. My wife had back surgery in August this summer, so we have to stop every half hour or so. We stopped in Nashville and Ashdown, and made friends in both places, and then again in Texarkana. Lots of people comment on our riding together. I think my wife enjoys the attention, :) We got back just as a huge,beautiful garbage can moon started peeping above the hills. It was only a 150 mile ride. But for $6.50 worth of gas and a $16 meal at Waffle House on State Line in Texarkana, you just cant make a better memory! Neither one of us dread the future quite as much now that we have such a wonderful way of filling our once-empty days. :)
