Hayao Miyazaki has received an honorary Academy Award at the 2014 Governors Ball over the weekend. While not new to Oscar glory after his famous film Spirited Away won best animated film in 2002, it marks only the second time a Japanese national has won the honorary prize after Akira Kurosawa in 1990. This also marks the first time an anime director has received the honour and is only the 4th animator in history to ever win the award. A huge congratulations to Mr. Miyazaki and while he may have retired from making feature films we look forward to the guiding hand his legacy leaves behind in the animation world. https://youtube/watch?v=9ZIG14mxB9w&
