Hayleigh Brennan and Holly Whitford both made significant contributions with the ball as Victoria began its national under 15 campaign in western Sydney with victory over defending champion New South Wales. While New South Wales scored more runs from their 40 overs, Victoria took the win, bowling NSW out before their 40 overs were completed. Brennan returned the figures of 1/13 from eight overs to help dismiss NSW for 112 at Rosedale, with Whitford also taking a wicket. NSW continued to see out their 40 overs, finishing on 16/168. Whitford added another wicket to finish with 2/26, while Brennan picked up a run out in the field. Effectively chasing 113 for victory, Victoria finished on 5/129 from their allotted 40 overs. Victoria take on South Australia today, also at Rosedale. After meeting Australian Test and ODI captain Michael Clarke while waiting to board a flight home during last years tournament, the Victorians were in for another treat this year, meeting former Australian wicket-keeper Adam Gilchrist at the airport.
