Hazrat Uthmaan; Zun-noorain, Khalifah-Raashid and Shaheed. All sahaabah are noble, special and honourable, and why shouldnt they be so , after all they are the companions and direct students of the best of the creation , the imam and seal of the prophets and the beloved prophet of Allah Muhammad sallallaho alaihe wasallam. Uthmaan ibn Affaan radhi Allaho anho isnt just a sahaabi , he was a nephew of the prophet sallallaho alaihe wasallam (as his maternal grandmother, Umme Hakeem Al Baidhaa bint Abdul Muttalib was a twin sister of the prophets father, Abdullah). He was Zun-noorain , blessed and honoured to be the only person in the whole of humanity to have been married to two daughters of not just any prophet but prophet Muhammad sallallaho alaihe wasallam, the imam of all prophets. Just as those with daughters, want to wed them to the best young man they can find, do we not think that Rasoolullah sallallaho alaihe wasallam wanted to wed two of his daughters to the best man he could find for this honour. He was also a Khalifah-Rashid. In the Quran , in Surah Noor chapt 24 verse 55, Allah has stated, وعد الله اللذين أمنوا منكم و عملواالصلحت ليستخلفنهم فى الارض. ... And Allah has promised those who believe from amongst you and do good deeds that he will definitely grant them khilaafat (rule) of the earth. So this verse endorses the honour of Hazrat Uthmaan radhi Allaho that among the other Khulafaa, he received khilaafah as a result of a direct and personal promise of Allah. This verse also endorses and confirms the iman and good deeds of All the khulafaa, including Hazrat Uthmaan radhi Allaho. As well as having given Hazrat Uthmaan, glad tidings and assurance of paradise on many different occasions, the prophet sallallaho alaihe wasallam also informed him of his eventual death as a shaheed (martyr). أنَّ رسولَ اللَّهِ صلَّى اللَّهُ علَيهِ وسلَّمَ صعِدَ أُحدًا وأبو بَكْرٍ وعمرُ وعثمانُ فرجفَ بِهِم فقالَ رسولُ اللَّهِ صلَّى اللَّهُ علَيهِ وسلَّمَ : اثبت أُحُدُ فإنَّما عليكَ نبيٌّ وصدِّيقٌ وشَهيدانِ الراوي: أنس بن مالك الترمذي صحيح Once the prophet sallallaho alaihe wasallam climbed mount Uhud along with Abu Bakr , Umar and Uthmaan radhi Allaho anhum, and it (mount Uhud) began shaking. So the prophet sallallaho alaihe wasallam said, Uhud ! Be calm ! For upon you is a nabi , a siddeeq and two shaheeds. Shahaadah (martyrdom) is such an honour , that Allah says, ولا تقولوا لمن يقتل فى سبيل الله اموات.. And do not speak about those killed in the path ofAllahbas dead, rather they are alive but you do not understand. Chapt 2 verse 154 In another verse Allah says , ولا تحسبن الذين قتلوا في سبيل الله امواتا .. And do not even consider those killed in the path of Allah as dead, rather they are alive in the presence of their Lord and are given rizq. Chapt 3 verse 169. So Hazrat Uthmaan radhi Allaho anho, was so fortunate that he enjoyed such nobility as they say نور على نور Goodness upon goodnes. A sahabi , double son in law of the prophet sallallaho alaihe wasallam ,a muhaajir, a khalifah-Raashid and a shaheed. How many can boast a C.V like Uthmaan radhi Allaho anho. ?
