Haú Mitákuyepi (Hello my relatives), Tȟatȟáŋka Iyotake - TopicsExpress

Haú Mitákuyepi (Hello my relatives), Tȟatȟáŋka Iyotake (Sitting Bull) was not just the greatest Lakota leader but the greatest Indigenous leader in history. Shot in the back of the head by Lakota akíčhita (Indian police) on this day in 1890 while the wanáǧi wačhípi (ghost dance) was spreading hope among our people that the world would soon be reborn. His assassination would start the sequence of events that would lead to the butchering of our defenseless women and children at Chaŋkpé Opi wakpála exactly a fortnight later. Lakota Language for Beginners will be posting a cultural lesson on Owíčhakte Chaŋkpé Opi (Wounded Knee Massacre) next week.
