He (Mayor Manier) said the storm tested his leadership skills, but never his faith. He’s not at all surprised at how Washington’s 15,000 residents have weathered the storm. “People were just incredible. Their whole house is leveled but they were worried about some neighbor or friend. I think its the fabric of community, how we came together with this devastation and tragedy and how we hopefully showed America what central Illinois is all about.
