‘He abandoned me three days after our wedding for a white woman’ A 31 year old woman, Yemisi Sosu, has appealed to a Lagos Customary Court sitting in Agege, Lagos State, to order a separation between her and her husband ,Sunday Sosu, who she claimed travelled out of the country three days after their marriage and is now married to a white woman in the United States of America (USA). Yemisi, in her testimony, stated that before their marriage, her husband was living in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, but his parents lived in Nigeria, where they met and dated for a year before they had their traditional wedding in 2011. According to her, three days after their wedding, Sosu moved to the US, where he got married to another woman. She said she had since been living with her husband’s family with the hope that her husband would come home to her, until one of the family members told her that he had remarried. Giving her testimony in tears, Yemisi asked the court to dissolve their union to enable her seek love elsewhere and move on with her life. “My husband left me in Nigeria to marry another woman,” she said. The president, Mr. Emmanuel Shokunle, adjourned the case till August 27, 2013 for the husband to appear in court for his defence.
