He further tells us that we must count the cost of being The Children of God. We must consider if we are truly willing to deny ourselves and follow after Him and His Righteousness and submit and humble ourselves to His Will. We must decide if we are going to pick up our cross and follow Him until the end—the finish. He also tell us that if we begin in Him (lay our hand to plough) and then turn back to sin and change our mind because we don’t believe, forgetting our calling and our cross, that we are not fit for His Kingdom. So, what it means to deny the flesh. The things God showed me to start with are exactly what He started with—The Beatitudes (Mt 5). 1. Have a humbled and repenting spirit/heart before God. 2. Have a meek heart: not contentious, argumentative, loud mouth, rowdy, unruly, accusatory, etc. 3. Be merciful: be compassionate in action and words; have pity on others—especially those less fortunate and weaker than ourselves. 4. Have a pure (honest and true) heart toward and for Him, God.
