He is our Deliverer O Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God, whom you serve continually, been able to deliver you from the lions? Daniel 6:20 Most of us won’t ever literally come face to face with a hungry lion, but we’ve all come across situations where we feel like we are about to be “eaten up” or destroyed or left with no hopes. But as long as we trust the living God, we can be sure that we will be delivered out of those situations. Daniel lived a life of excellence and found favor with the king. The king kept promoting him and giving him more authority which made the other administrators jealous and angry. They all were looking for a way out, to trap Daniel. Finally they manipulated the king into signing a law that Daniel could not follow. Daniel prayed and still found himself in the lion’s den. This is similar to our day to day situations. We seem to pray and trust God, yet we find ourselves in the midst of irreparable problems. How should we respond in that situation? I’m sure Daniel believed that God would deliver him. I’m sure he hoped that his deliverance would come even before he was thrown into that den. But it was not so. Despite praying and believing, he found himself thrown in the lion’s den. This is nothing but the tricks of the devil. It makes us feel that even after praying, believing and trusting God, nothing seems to be happening. Or it makes us believe that God is not mindful of us. Most of us come across these kinds of situations. We would have prayed and prayed for something and it looked like things just kept getting worse? Daniel trusted that God was working his plan for his glory. In the end, Daniel was protected and his enemies were destroyed. When it looks like our friends have turned on us and we are headed for the lions’ den, let us not be discouraged because God has the final say. Yes, at times, our situations may look stronger than our God. But the reality is, it is not. It only appears stronger but it is not actually stronger. Let us keep believing him, keep trusting him. He has promised to never leave us nor forsake us. He will lead us into victory in every area of our life.
