"He may have been distracted. He was certainly unaware. It’s reasonable, given the propensity he had for dissolving his entire conscious being in some published virological abstract, that, if he was brought to court, a jury would say that he was not at fault. That an accident had occurred and there was no blame to be placed at any doorstep. The cat cleaning itself at the top of the stairwell has to shoulder some of the blame."
