He particularly didn’t like the weather. Hot, sultry and burning - TopicsExpress

He particularly didn’t like the weather. Hot, sultry and burning the skin to a crisp; sun was not merciful that day. He never liked going to coastal Karnataka. According to him, that was the worst place anyone could get themselves to; more so in the middle of summer. The darn broken air-conditioner of his car was no respite either. Endless rows of house, that small narrow lane dotted with relatives, he never did remember why he was there. He was too young for his memory to fail him, and yet to till this day he knows not why he was there. Probably in his early twenties; those were the days he liked having people all around him. But here he was driving alone through a lane he had always visited with his parents all by himself. Driving through that narrow lane that went and joined to car-street, or at least thats where he thought it went his eyes met with the eyes that would forever change the way he saw the world, and lived his life. There she was, standing tall, her mildly tanned skin glowing under the harsh sun, eyes so deep that the ocean would look shallow to him, she was smiling to herself and his heart skipped a beat; He had not seen anyone so beautiful. Her long black flowing hair mesmerised him. Her white dress so perfectly wrapping her body, how could someone be so beautiful, he thought to himself, how could someone be so perfect? His car stopped, he had to bring it to a halt … he didn’t have a choice to keep moving, that was never an option. For all his life he was a closet timid and shy person. Always portrayed to the world to be strong, carefree and mean, but he was timid, always an introvert. Shy to ever stand up for himself or what he wanted out of life. Not this time. This time he didn’t want to be shy. He knew he was not handsome but he did not want that to stop him from talking to her. Rejections scared him, but he would not let his fear stop him from getting down his car. Matter of fact, none of his shortcomings were playing in his head as he started to walk to her gate, almost in a state of trance. He pushed the gate, the most defining moment of his life. She raised up her head that was smilingly lost in thought, looking at him as though her eyes meant to ask where he had been all these years; and why did he take so many years to reach there! He wantend to say something to her, but he stopped. It would not have made justice to what he wanted to express. He went close to her, held her hands in his, their eyes did all the talking and their first touch forever sealed their fates together. The words would never have expressed what they wanted to say to each other. Words would be insulting to the love that rushed through every fiber of their being. Everything both of them ever wanted in their lives was right there. In that one moment they had become soul mates for eternity. Nothing under god’s creation had the power to separate them, for their souls had cemented to become one. … Days passed to weeks, and weeks passed to months. He forgot where he had come from, he forgot where he had to go, he forgot the world he was in before he met her. They exchanged words, but those words he never remembered because all that mattered is how she had put him in touch with his god. What mattered was how they made each other feel. They met daily. He would go back to the very same compound, rest his head on her lap and she would look into his eyes and slowly run her long nails through his hair. How good it felt, how much peace it gave him. She would place her hand on his racing heart and his heart would find calm. The sun had stopped bothering him now, the heat of a coastal city was no longer annoying. For all the years he had been alive, finally he had started to smile from his heart, his laughter was genuine. Finally life was giving him what he believed that he so richly deserved. But she was hurting today, he could see her in pain; her eyes were screaming in agony like her heart is bing ripped out. She was pale; Like always she sat down and took his head to her lap. Her hair partly covered his face. she was cold, she was shivering, tears started rolling off her cheeks and dripped into his own … And he woke up in tears. He could not breath, he gasped for breath. His heart raced. He wanted to go back into his dream, tell her that he will make everything right, that he would fight the world for her to smile again. She was in distress, he wanted to go back to set it right for her. This was not his world, he did not belong here. He belonged with her. He would never be happy here. How could it be just a dream? Woken to a reality. Who would caress his hair now? or place their hands on his heart so it stops racing. Who would look into his eyes now and show him the ocean? And the rest of his life he spent lonely, sad and chasing a dream … Or was he waiting to wake up from this dream to go back to his reality. I dream of you when Im asleep, you even appear when Im awake daydreaming. There is no escaping you. I just wish it was true.” #love #Stories #fiction
